Santa Barbara County Fire Department receives funding to increase resources ahead of fire season

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – The Santa Barbara County Fire Department received a multi-million dollar fund to increase resources ahead of fire season.

The fire department spokesperson said the department will have a total of 18 fire personnel, they are seasonal employees.

The department said the state is currently reducing fire crew inmates statewide. According to the spokesperson, this funding will fill the staffing gap.

Two additional hand crew buggies will assist firefighters, giving them more resources when fires break in the community.
