Santa Barbara lands in top four most expensive rent for college students in U.S.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – New research from InMyArea.com found that Santa Barbara has the nation's fourth most expensive college housing.

According to the statistics, a bedroom has an average monthly rent of $1,819. Meanwhile, across the country, students are paying an average rent of $735 per month.

Here is the research from college towns with the most affordable and expensive housing:

Most expensive cities: 

  • Santa Clara, CA
  • San Jose, CA
  • Los Altos Hills, CA
  • Santa Barbara, CA

Least expensive cities:

  • Morehead, KY
  • Bowling Green, KY
  • Emporia, KS
  • Youngstown, OH
