Two Officers Hospitalized After Crashing Into Each Other During State Street Response

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – Two local police department vehicles collided with each other and two officers are in stable condition after a call for backup for a police response on State Street Tuesday evening.

On Sep. 15, around 9:30 p.m., officers in two separate marked police vehicles responded to a request for immediate backup in the 500 block of State Street stated a press release Wednesday from the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Both vehicles were responding with lights and sirens activated when they collided at the intersection of East Cota Street and Anacapa Street detailed the Santa Barbara Police Department.

According to Santa Barbara Police, both involved officers were injured and transported from the scene to the emergency room at Cottage Hospital for further medical treatment.

Both officers are in stable condition shared the local law enforcement agency.

The incident is now under investigation by the California Highway Patrol added the Santa Barbara Police Department.
