Ventura Woman Arrested for Burglary and Vehicle Theft After Being Confronted Sunday

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 41-year-old Ventura woman was arrested for burglary and vehicle theft after taking keys from a home on Cypress Point Lane and driving away after being confronted by the homeowner Sunday morning.

On Aug. 23, around 10:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Cypress Point Lane and Telephone Road after a resident shared there was an in-progress vehicle theft and she had confronted the suspected thief stated a press release from the Ventura Police Department.

Officers spoke with the victim at the scene and she shared that had left her Cypress Point Lane home to go on a walk and when she arrived home, she spotted someone in her husband's car detailed the local law enforcement agency.

According to Ventura Police, investigators believe that the suspect, later identified as a 41-year-old Ventura woman, had burglarized the home while the owner was out walking, found a set of keys inside, and was attempted to leave in the car when the homeowner returned.

The victim attempted to stop the 41-year-old Ventura woman from driving away, but she left the scene in the stolen vehicle explained the Ventura Police Department.

The homeowner called 911 to report the crime and as officers were heading to the scene, an investigation revealed that the burglar had driven the vehicle a short distance away before abandoning it noted the local police department.

After an investigation into the incident, a 41-year-old Ventura woman was booked on charges of residential burglary and vehicle theft at the Ventura County Jail shared the Ventura Police Department.
