3.8 magnitude earthquake reported in Santa Ynez Valley

SANTA YNEZ, Calif. - An earthquake was felt by many in the Santa Ynez Valley and beyond Saturday evening.

The earthquake was first felt around 6: 48 p.m. Its preliminary magnitude was reported to be 4.0 according to the United States Geological Survey, but was later downgraded to 3.8.

The epicenter was located about 3 miles southeast of Santa Ynez.

The earthquake was also reportedly felt by people in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria.
