Two arrested for burglary in Morro Bay
MORRO BAY, Calif. - Morro Bay police responded to a report of a burglary on the 2100 block of Main Street around 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Upon arriving, officers contacted a witness who reported that the suspects of the burglary were wearing yellow safety vests and posed as a maintenance/repair crew. The two then entered a rear laundry room in the building and attempted to pry the change machine open.
According to police, the witness confronted the two suspects, but they fled south along Main Street in a vehicle.
Officers then broadcasted a description of the suspects and their vehicle to the county.
Police later identified these suspects as 30-year-old Kelley Lynn Burchnell and 25-year-old Anthony Ishmael Farley.
Around 5:08 p.m., San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Deputies saw the suspects' vehicle traveling west on South Bay Boulevard from Santa Ysabel Street. The deputies discovered that Burchnell and Farley had outstanding warrants for their arrest and performed a traffic stop on their vehicle.
Burchnell and Farley were both arrested during the stop. Deputies report finding meth in Burchnell's possessions during a search.
Morro Bay Police arrived at the scene of the traffic stop to continue the investigation. The police searched the vehicle and found that it had been stolen in a vehicle burglary in San Luis Obispo.
Both Burchnell and Farely were transported and booked for their outstanding warrants, burglary and being in possession of burglary tools. Burchnell was additionally charged with possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
