West Coast Racers coaster debuts at Six Flags Magic Mountain
VALENCIA, Calif. - The thrill capital of the world is about to get more thrilling.
West Coast Racers is the newest edition to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Topping speeds of 55 mph, riders are launched several times in what's being a called a first of its kind racing roller coaster.
"This is the first quadruple racing track, single coaster ever built," Park President Neal Thurman said. "The whole time you're racing side-by-side with another coaster car on the track."
The ride is built in a new area of the park known as The Underground. All of it inspired by the premiere custom car shop in Southern California, West Coast Customs.
"This is one of the coolest coasters," Sam Rhodes with the Six Flags design team told us. "Car and coasters, it's kind of a neat thing. We looked at it like peanut butter and jelly. These thing just need to be together."
West Coast Racers opens to the public Thursday January 9.
