Ronney Jenkins headed into Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame

Ronney Jenkins played major college football and he spent four seasons in the NFL. However most people remember him for one spectacular game in high school.

As a senior at Hueneme High School, Jenkins broke the national high school football single-game record by rushing for 619 yards on November 9, 1995. He also scored seven touchdowns in a win over Rio Mesa.

On Sunday, June 2 Jenkins will be inducted into the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame along with fellow NFL players Lorenzo Booker, Freddy Keiaho plus 4-time Olympic diver Troy Dumais and pro golfer Paul Stankowski.

Following high school, Jenkins played at BYU and Northern Arizona.

He signed with the San Diego Chargers in 2000 and in 2001 he was named as a Pro Bowl alternate after averaging 26.6 yards per kickoff return which led the league.
