Authorities release identity of man killed in Camarillo stabbing

The identity of a man killed following a late night stabbing Thursday in Camarillo has been identified.

Gilbert Aceves, 54, of Camarillo was pronounced dead at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. Investigators said that Aceves’ injuries were consistent with stab wounds.

A second man was transported to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo and later transferred to Los Robles Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was released early Friday afternoon.

The circumstances leading to Aceves’ death are under investigation but police say there are no outstanding suspects.

One person has died and another was injured in a double stabbing that occurred Thursday night in Camarillo.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 2200 block of Marco Drive after 911 calls from the area. When deputies arrived they found two adult men with stab wounds. Both were taken to different, nearby hospitals where one of them died from their injuries.

Officials will not say if the two men stabbed each other, but authorities did say they are not searching for any other suspects.

The names of the two men involved have not been released.
