Santa Maria Skateboarder Struck by Car
SANTA MARIA, Calif. – A teenager spent the morning in a hospital after he was struck by a car and went into its windshield.
It happened at 7 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of Curryer and Taft in Santa Maria.
Police say the juvenile was on a skateboard when he rode off the curb and in front of an oncoming Jetta.
Maribell Hurtado was behind the wheel and stepped on her breaks but couldn’t avoid the collision.
The 17 year-old was struck by the front hood and went into the windshield.
He was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
