Rescue Mission Celebrates Christmas Early
Christmas came early at the Rescue Mission.
A feast and presents were served up to the needy in the community Monday.
For many of the people at the Rescue Mission, the annual Christmas meal is the only holiday food they’ll get. And it’s not just for the homeless; many unemployed men and women were there as well.
Plates of holiday food were served up fresh. Everyone from babies to four legged-friends got as many servings as they liked.
The dining room was covered with decorations as people came together to celebrate Christmas.
“No matter where you come from or who you are, you’re welcome,” said Susan Lee.
Lee is unemployed and shared her meal with her 4-month-old son.
“When people in the community contribute, it’s very loving and generous and we’re really grateful, so grateful. So thank you very much for all that each person out there is doing to contribute so that people like us can have something to eat,” said Marilyn Summerside.
After the meal, it was time for presents.
Tables lined the parking lot with items people need most, like socks, blankets and of course toys for the kids.
