Gauchos Soccer Eliminated by Penn State

Down a player for 84 minutes proved too much for the UCSB men’s soccer team as they lost 1-0 to Penn State in a second round game of the NCAA Tournament.

Connor Maloney’s blast in the 78th minute allows the Nittany Lions to advance to the third round at New Mexico. The Gauchos finish up 12-6-3.

The game drastically changed in the sixth minute when UCSB midfielder Fifi Baiden received a red card for a tackle, leaving UCSB shorthanded for the rest of the game.

The Gauchos were the 10th seed after winning the Big West Conference regular season title. It marked the 11th time in the past 12 years that UCSB made the NCAA Tournament.
