Vintage Military Cars and Planes Take Part in Parade

World War II veterans, including 102-year-old Bea Abrams Cohen, took part in Saturday’s Veterans Day Parade. Cohen became a U.S. Army Sgt. after working for Douglas Aircraft.

Other veterans rode in vintage military vehicles.

Pilots took off from Camarillo and made several passes over the parade route that went from State Street to the Veteran’s Hall on Cabrillo Boulevard.

Vietnam veterans said Veterans Day events are bittersweet. They can be a reminder of bad memories but can also boosts morale.

They also said it was sort of like a reunion.

People used to celebrate Veterans day only on Monday, now it’s a three-day weekend full of events.
