Ventura Film Society settles into new home
The Ventura Film Society has a new quarterly film series and a new location.
The nonprofit screens a variety of films on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in Ventura.
Lorenzo DeStefano is the founder and director of the society.
DeStefano calls film a dynamic art form that is engaging, entertaining and compelling.
This Tuesday a documentary called Booker’s Place-A Mississippi Story will screen at 7:15p.m. in a new screening room on the corner of East Santa Clara and Oak streets.
The film reveals how a civil rights documentary that aired on television in the 1960s impacted the subject and the filmmaker.
Other films in the new season include:56 Up, Chasing Ice, and Fame High.
