Man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping wife, mother-in-law after standoff in Buellton
The California Highway Patrol received a call from a woman in Oceano who said her husband was kidnapping her and her mother in a motor home.
Officers caught up with the RV in Orcutt and chased it to Buellton where the situation turned into a standoff.
The woman who was kidnapped told officers that her husband was in a methamphetamine induced psychosis and he had several weapons in the vehicle including knives and a dumb bell.
She said her mother was deaf and sleeping under the bed.
CHP contacted the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department for help.
“From there, they employed the use of flash-bang grenades where they were able to stun the suspect. They went into the motor home, and took him into custody,” said officer Kevin McCool with the California Highway Patrol.
McCool said the community helped by avoiding the area during the standoff.
