Red Bull Flugtag Contest Featuring Team of Isla Vista Students
A team of five Isla Vista students beat out hundreds of others to win a spot in the annual Red Bull Flugtag (German for “Flight Day”) contest.
Red Bull hosts these human-powered flying events across the country too see which crazy, wacky craft can fly the farthest off an elevated platform.
Kevin Moore, Michael Cady, Sasha Shams, Mitch Meleski and Kyle Brown make up team Belligerent BuffleBros.They’ll be traveling to Long Beach on Saturday for the big Red Bull Flugtag show.
The Belligerent BuffleBros are a team of five UCSB students and they built a 10-foot high rolling buffalo.
“I’d say we’ve been working on it for about a month now and it literally just started off with four pieces of wood and we never really thought it would turn out to be this good,” crew member Cady said.
Twenty-seven other teams will do battle with the Belligerent BuffleBros in Long Beach. Four other cities — Chicago, Washington D.C., Miami and Dallas/Fortworth — are also hosting Red Bull Flugtags.
