Training burn completed for Atascadero area
You may see smoke and flames if you’re in the Atascadero area Tuesday.
The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection are scheduled to conduct a 25-acre prescribed burn.
This burn is being conducted as a training exercise to provide fire crews with opportunity to use live fire and gain valuable experience using prudent ignition and containment techniques.
The training burn will be heldfrom 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and officials say smoke could be seen from Santa Margarita, Atascadero and Templeton.
The prescribed burn is being coordinated with the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District and the California Air Resources Board in the hopes of minimizing the smoke impact on surrounding communities.
