Free Library Takes Off at Santa Barbara Airport

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - Waiting for a flight may now come with a good book.

Santa Barbara Airport and the Santa Barbara Public Library have teamed up to launch 'Library on the Fly,' a free book exchange inside the airport terminal.

Located past security near Gate 2, the book cart invites travelers to pick up a book before boarding or donate one they’ve already finished. No library card is required.

Library staff will keep the shelves stocked with a mix of titles for adults and children, including books in multiple languages and a variety of genres.

Passengers can also sign up for a free digital library card, giving them access to eBooks, audiobooks and other online resources while traveling.

Airport leaders hope the partnership adds another welcoming touch to the travel experience, while library officials see it as a way to connect readers with books when they have time to enjoy them.
