Lompoc Police help at 6th Annual Toys for Tots Fly’In
LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Police Department collected toys for children at the 6th Annual Toys for Tots Fly'In held at the Lompoc Airport on Saturday.
The Fly'In was sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corp and Rene Minjares, Owner of the Barnstormers Aero Services Inc.
The event was held at the airport from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 7.
Police said the purpose of the Fly'In is to promote and showcase aviation to children who find airplanes really interesting.
During the event, Lompoc Police Department volunteers, Officers and explorers worked alongside several businesses, agencies and individuals to gather hundreds of donated toys for the kids.
Police said that all donations collected in the Lompoc area for the Toys for Tots program will benefit children in need in the Lompoc Valley.
“It’s to set an example to businesses and community members to enhance the spirit of giving," said Minjares.
The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots program is to bring brand new toys to less fortunate children with hopes of brightening their Christmas season.
