A cloudy Friday with potential for light rain over the weekend

Temperatures Friday will decrease slightly for the Central Coast with a weak trough, but increase slightly for the South Coast with continued offshore flow. Highs will be in the 60s across the board.

As a trough moves into California, it will push our ridge to the east and send a cold front down the coast. There's a slight chance of rain showers in the northwest corner of SLO County, but for the most part we are expected to be dry and cloudy with the front fizzling out.

Saturday will be a mixed bag. Rain chances begin in the evening for the Central Coast with a second system. Chances extend to the South Coast overnight, and linger for all areas through the first part of Sunday.

Rain is expected to be very light with totals amounting under a quarter inch. Some on the South Coast may only see trace amounts. Mountain snow could be present at 4,500 feet as temperatures drop on Sunday.

Skies will clear out Monday, but temperatures will stay cool with little change. However, a short-lived warmup takes effect Tuesday as winds turn more northeasterly and a ridge of high pressure forms aloft.
