Santa Ana winds continue Thursday, but winds and temperatures start to drop off on Friday

Temperatures Thursday are staying warm as winds continue across parts of the region. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s, sitting near or slightly above normal.

Santa Ana winds are stirring up through the morning and into the afternoon, thanks in part to cold air advection. Northeasterly winds will also be breezy consistently in San Luis Obispo County.

A high wind warning is in effect for the Ventura County mountains until 6:00 pm Thursday with gusts up to 60 mph. A wind advisory is in effect for the Ventura County valleys and coast until 6:00 pm and 2:00 pm respectively, with gusts up to 50 mph.

The wind will lessen at night Thursday, but pick up slightly again Friday morning. With a lack of cold air advection, they will drop off again quickly. A ridge will also approach from the northwest Friday, keeping temperatures nice and warm.

Temperatures dramatically drop Saturday as an inside slider moves from Idaho. Offshore flow will flip to onshore flow and bring in a few more clouds.

Skies will be mostly cloudy Sunday and gradually clear Monday, with a very slight chance of rain showers. Temperatures will continue cooling, putting the region 10 to 15 degrees below normal.
