Sunday Evening Forecast Jan 22nd

More sunshine today for us as high pressure keeps all the Pacific storms well to our north. As the systems dive south to our east, high pressure chases low pressure and we get wind. Wind Advisories and Warnings are posted for much of the region. Winds from the north and then northeast could gust to as high as 50-mph plus below foothills and canyons. The winds should decrease late Sunday with just Ventura County seeing more winds on Monday as the direction shifts east to create Santa Anas. Look for more chilly overnight and early morning lows. For now, there are no watches or advisories related to the cold. Highs on Monday will be in the upper 50's and 60's despite the morning chill.

Looking ahead, strong high pressure is keeping the storm track well to our north. We don't see any big changes with the Jet Stream though most of next week. In fact, we should not only see more sunshine, but slightly warmer weather as a moderate offshore helps to warm the atmosphere through the work week. More clouds are expected by next weekend as storms drop farther south. Our long range forecast models get a little conflicted through next weekend. Some of the runs keep the storm track well to our north while a few are now seeing maybe a chance for some energy getting close enough to warrant a threat for showers over the weekend. We will monitor closely and update you just in case rain becomes the weather story once again.
