Series of storms ahead

The weekend brings a series of storms to the region, with light scattered showers earlier Friday and a chance of rain expected into Monday. By late Saturday morning and into Saturday afternoon, about half an inch of rain an hour is forecasted, followed by a break between systems overnight into Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon, another wave of wet weather arrives, bringing scattered showers into Monday.

Southwesterly winds at 20-30 mph will accompany the rainy conditions, which has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Advisory for San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains. This will be in effect from noon until 9pm on Saturday.

A High Surf Advisory remains in effect until 10pm Saturday for the beaches of Santa Barbara County's Southwestern and Southeastern Coast. It will be in effect until 10pm Sunday for the beaches of the Central Coast and San Luis Obispo County. A High Surf Warning will be in effect until 3pm Saturday for Ventura County beaches due to waves between nine and thirteen foot waves. It is best to avoid the beaches for the time being due to a dangerous rip currents.

A break from the rain arrives Tuesday, followed by partly cloudy conditions and cool temperatures.
