Light showers for now, stormy conditions ahead
Light scattered showers began on Thursday, bringing periods of on-and-off rain to much of the region. The system is fast moving and is not widespread or steady for the time being. Mostly cloudy conditions will prevail on Friday. There is a lingering chance of rain Friday as well, but a colder storm system moves in Saturday.
New Year's Eve will be stormy, with gusty winds and moderate to heavy rain expected for much of the day. Measurable rain will be produced from the extended period of wet weather ahead.
Temperatures remain chilly, with highs primarily in the 50s and 60s for both coastal and inland communities. Winds will pick up on Saturday to accompany the rainy conditions.
There will be a temporary break from the rain on Sunday, but the first full week of 2023 brings more rain.
