Saturday Evening Forecast May 7th

Absolutely beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and mostly seasonal temperatures. Changes are on the way as more wind is expected along with cooler temperatures for Mother's Day and in to early next week. We have widespread Wind Advisories for Sunday and even a few areas possibly seeing Warning level winds from. the north. Wind gusts could exceed 50-mpg, especially below foothills and mountains. Temperatures on Sunday will likely cool back in the 60's with maybe a few areas topping out near 70-degrees. Again, winds will be a concern for most areas for much of the day.

Looking ahead, Spring is typically our north to northwest wind season and that's exactly what is setting up forecast wise. Late season storms continue to ride over top of us and that brings the parade of air masses chasing each other with wind being the result. Showers will likely make it as far south as Northern California and we could even see a slight sprinkle or two at times next week. But, north to northwest winds are guaranteed as high pressure chases low pressure across the West Coast. Wind warning and advisories are in through about Monday for now, but could easily be resurrected at any time next week. Temperatures will also take a hit as cold air funnels in from the north. The northerly winds could warm things slightly with some localized down sloping and compressional heating, but most areas will be on the chilly side. By late in the work week, the winds will turn slightly more north easterly and that should warm things as we head in to next weekend.
