Friday evening forecast – June 11

Gradual warming trend to the region through this weekend. Gusty northerly winds are expected across southern Santa Barbara County through early Saturday morning. A significant heat wave is expected next week as high pressure develops aloft and onshore flow weakens.

Wind advisory for Santa Barbara South Coast and mountains until 3AM Saturday morning. The strong northerly winds will be strongest for areas west of Goleta.

This weekend will be warm but we will see more cloud cover for the Central Coast Saturday and for all coastal areas on Sunday, but the cloud cover will only be for a couple hours during the morning so temperatures are expected to still be warm in the afternoon. This weekend highs along the Central Coast will be ing the 70s, South Coast near 80 and inland spots in 80s to low 90s.

A ridge of high pressure will be building over the area along with increasing northerly flow next week, this will bring us hot and dry conditions next week.

An excessive heat watch is in place for most locations Tuesday morning through Friday as we deal with highs along the coast in the 90s and in the triple digits inland.

Sundowner winds in combination with the dry and hot conditions have prompted a fire weather watch for the Santa Barbara South Coast and Mountains Monday 6PM through Wednesday 6AM.
