Peak of warm weather Thursday

Wind advisory Wednesday night for Santa Barbara South Coast and mountains until 6AM Thursday.  It was warm out there today upper 70s to 80s in most locations, it will be warmer tomorrow.  A significant warming trend will develop through Friday as ridging aloft builds in from the west over the region. Summer-like temperatures will be prevalent across most areas away from the coast Thursday and Friday. Broad weak troughing aloft will bring cooler conditions over the weekend and into early next week.

Thursday will be the warmest day of the week with widespread 80s to low 90s. Overall, most areas can expect temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above seasonal normals Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the return of onshore flow and the upper level trough will bring a dramatic cooling trend, about 6 to 12 degrees than Friday.

As for winds, still have some decent northerly gradients forecast across the area through Friday morning. so, there will continue to be some gusty sundowner winds across southern Santa Barbara County. Wind advisory for Santa Barbara South Coast and mountains until 6AM Thursday. Expect strong north/northwest winds between 15-30 mph, and gusts exceeding 40 mph.

For Thursday night, there may be a repeat of advisory-level sundowner winds. Otherwise, the weak offshore gradients forecast in the morning hours will produce some locally gusty northeast winds across the area.

As for clouds, the combination of the upper level ridge and weak diurnal gradients will keep the area cloud-free through Friday. For Friday night and Saturday, the onshore flow should allow for some return of coastal stratus and fog.

A trough will dig down on Saturday and Sunday this will bring us more cloud cover and cooler temperatures back into the 60s and 70s for the weekend. The mild near average conditions will continue into the beginning of next week.
