Warmer week ahead

A warming trend is expected midweek with mostly sunny skies. It will be very warm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with temperatures reaching the upper 70s to 80s at the coast and 90s in the valleys.

Monday we saw more sunshine and temperatures increase to near normal. Monday night will be breezy to windy.

Tuesday we will have a lot more sunshine and this will help increase temperatures back to near normal in the mid 60s to low 70s. There will be some cloud cover but not much and the wind will pick up in the afternoon and continue into the evening.

For Tuesday night through Thursday, the pattern definitely changes as an upper ridge builds in from the west. Near the surface, there will be an increase in northerly offshore gradients each evening. So, some gusty sundowner winds can be expected, possibly reaching low-end advisory levels. Also, there will be some weak northeast offshore gradients each morning which will produce some locally gusty northeast winds across the area (with speeds expected to remain below advisory levels). With this pattern, temperatures will climb dramatically Wednesday and again on Thursday. In fact by Thursday, many coastal and valley areas will have high temperatures in the upper 70s to around 90.

Ridge peaks in strength on Friday then a trough develops over the west coast Saturday through Monday. This will bring us more cloud cover and cool temperatures back in the 60s and 70s.
