Gradual weekend heat relief

Strong high pressure along with light offshore winds will bring another hot day to the region Saturday. Temperatures will begin to cool gradually over the weekend as the high pressure weakens, but still remain above normal. Coastal low clouds should return to many areas next week, but temperatures away from the coast should still be several degrees above normal.

Friday was a very warm day with most locations having temperatures 20 degrees above average.  We expect windy conditions along the Santa Barbara South Coast and Mountains Friday night.

Saturday mostly sunny skies will cover the forecast area, although there are some mostly thin smoke layers.  The ridge will weaken just a tad on Saturday helping cool us down a couple degrees but we expect temperatures to still be a good 10 degrees above average.  80s to 90s at the coast and triple digits inland.

It looks like the marine inversion will start to form Saturday night but remain very shallow, with perhaps some low clouds developing along the Central Coast. Any low clouds will likely be accompanied with patchy dense fog.

Temperatures will remain above normal across the region for most areas through Monday, but will still be several degrees cooler than recent days.

It looks like the pattern favors some increasing onshore flow and cooler temps especially by mid to late week, along with an increase in night and morning low clouds and fog, probably extending into the valleys by Thursday. Although temps will continue to slowly cool off through the extended, it still looks like highs will continue above normal away from the coast.
