Sunday Evening Forecast Sept 27th

A little fog along the coast this morning gave way to another gorgeous day. Are temperatures were mostly above normal with plenty of 70, 80's and even a few 90'!
Look for more patchy fog to meander near the coast for the late night and early morning hours on Monday. Highs will be in the 70's near the coast with low 90's expected once again in the warmest interior locations.
Looking ahead, Fall is here and as we all know, it can be our most spectacular season with regard to sunshine and very warm temperatures. This is exactly what we see coming next week!  High pressure is building across the West Coast and that will scour out the marine layer for all but just a few immediate beach locations. To our east, storms are beginning to line up and dive down across the Rockies. This means high and low pressure will jostle for positions from day to day and we end up seeing offshore north-easterly winds. These Santa Anas are typically only felt from about Ventura County southward. However, all of us feel the side effects as the atmosphere dries out and the compressing winds warm things up. By late Monday and Tuesday we will likely see the Santa Anas blowing through most of Southern California. That means widespread 80's and 90's are expected with even a few low 100's possible. There is a slight outlying chance that maybe the winds will be weaker than expected and that would be great news for fire fighters. Either way, a gradual weakening of the winds should occur by late in the work week and slightly cooler weather will start to return. Fire Weather Watches & scattered Heat Advisories have been posted for Monday and will stay in play through about mid week! We have large fires still burning in all areas of California and this will likely not help! Hopefully no new fires develop and we get through this next wind event as best as we can!
