Thursday evening forecast Sep. 17th

Partly cloudy skies will persist through Friday with smoky conditions improving in most areas for the weekend. There will be a modest cooling trend this weekend with additional cooling early next week due to a weak trough moving through California. Local gusty sundowners are expected across southern Santa Barbara County this evening, becoming stronger Friday evening through early Saturday morning. Slightly below to normal temperatures for this time of year are expected by Sunday and into next week. Marine layer clouds will return to coastal areas and some coastal valleys during this time.

Mid-high level cloud remnants from former tropical storm Karina are moving across the area. Low clouds will be back across the Central Coast tomorrow morning, visibility seems to be a bit better.  High temperatures should be a tad cooler overall on Friday.

Winds will be gusty on Friday, especially around the Santa Barbara South Coast area at sunset.

The best cooling will come this weekend as temperatures drop to right at average or below average thanks to a trough pushing in.  Low 60s for the San Luis Obispo County beaches 70s for coastal Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, and 80s inland.
