Sunday Evening Forecast August 16th

A very busy weather day as extreme heat and tropical moisture rolled through the region. We are still under a Heat Warning for much of our inland areas which will last through at least mid week or possibly longer. Scattered thunderstorms are still a threat and Flash Flood Watch will be in effect through the evening. The Thunderstorms can spark a few brushfires from lightning strikes as rainfall sometimes is very limited or nonexistent. Good news is that winds are fairly light which should aid in the fire fighting efforts. Monday still sees a slight chance for more thunderstorms and as mentioned, the heat will continue with triple digits inland. Beaches could be the wild card as the marine layer is lurking offshore and that should help to keep it cooler along the coast.
Looking ahead, tropical moisture will linger in to next week with slight chances for mostly inland and or mountain thunder. The heat will continue through much of next week plenty of sunshine despite the tropical clouds drifting overhead from time to time. A slow and slight cool down is expected as we head toward next weekend. However, for inland areas especially, it will still stay very warm. Look for the marine layer to be better formed along the coast with cooler temperatures there.
