Wednesday evening forecast June 3rd

Peak heat arrived on Wednesday with inland areas topping off in the 90s to 100s. While coastal areas warmed above average with daytime highs in the 70s and 80s. As temperatures soared Santa Maria broke June 3rd's record reaching 85 degrees. The old record high of 82 was set back in 1949. A Heat Advisory will remain in effect across San Luis Obispo County's interior valleys until Wednesday at 8 PM.

As an onshore flow begins to strengthen Thursday temperatures will cool slightly for San Luis Obispo County's interior valleys while other areas could expect a 5 to 10 degree cool down. The cooling trend will continue through Saturday with the marine layer persisting from night to morning allowing for coastal low clouds and areas of dense fog.

A low pressure system will move closer on Friday. This will bring a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms across mountains and inland areas.

Gusty northwest winds will pick up for the weekend and continue through early next week across southern Santa Barbara County. The next heat wave is expected on Wednesday with a Heat Advisory possible.
