Monday evening forecast May 25th

High pressure from the west will gradually move inland over the area Monday through Thursday, creating an extended period of hot weather.  There is increased confidence in cooling temperatures with gusty onshore winds Friday as a cutoff upper low approaches the coast. This cooling trend is expected to persist into the weekend with continued gusty onshore winds and increasing clouds.

Monday, temperatures rose 8 to 15 degrees above normal. Near the coast, temperatures will depend strongly on the evolution of the marine layer, therefore some uncertainty remains for this area. If the marine layer dissipates quicker than expected or fails to advance onshore, very warm temperatures could affect the immediate coast. Tuesday through Thursday are likely to see the highest temperatures, with highs 10 to 20 degrees above normal for inland and interior areas. Overnight temperatures are expected to remain fairly warm during the period, resulting in an increased risk of heat-related impacts for sensitive populations and those in portable shelters. A Heat Advisory is in effect for San Luis Obispo County's interior valleys through 7PM Thursday.

Tuesday marine layer clouds are expected in the morning hours along the south coast, by the afternoon expect plenty of sunshine.  This onshore flow will keep temperatures much more mild along the south coast where highs will still be above average but noticeably cooler than the Central Coast.  Highs tomorrow will be in the 70s where there is cloud cover along the coast and 80s just a little inland, 90s and triple digits for the valleys.  Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s to 60s.

Very little change for your Wednesday and Thursday.
