Monday evening forecast May 4th

This week is all about warm temperatures, sunny skies and gusty winds. There will be a significant warming trend this week with temperatures well into the 80s along the coast and 90s inland. Gusty northerly winds will continue through Thursday morning, especially over southern Santa Barbara County.

Main issues this week are heat and winds. We saw a modest warm up today, with highs in the upper 70s and 80s.  The warm up will continue by Wednesday and Thursday most inland areas will be in the 90s. Highs are very close to record levels in some areas. There is a possibility of heat advisories again for at least part of the coast/valley zones Wednesday & Thursday given that highs will be about 20 degrees above normal.

Winds will be strong again tonight.  There is a wind advisory in effect for the Santa Barbara South Coast, Santa Barbara County mountains until 3AM Tuesday morning and for the Ventura County Mountains until 9AM Tuesday.  The gusty northerly winds are expected to be stronger Tuesday night into Wednesday.  This is why a high wind watch is in effect for tomorrow.

A cooling trend is expected to begin Friday for coast/valleys as gradients turn onshore. Temperatures will remain above average through early next week, with no rain in sight.
