Thursday evening forecast April 16th

Thursday we started off with marine layer clouds but most cities enjoyed beautiful sunshine by the afternoon and comfortable high temperatures primarily in the mid 60s to low 70s.  This is several degrees cooler than earlier this week.

Increasing marine layer clouds are expected Thursday night with drizzle and light rain possible. An upper level low pressure system will bring a chance of light rain to many areas Friday along with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the mountains Friday afternoon. Any thunderstorms that develop could produce brief heavy rain, small hail, gusty winds and dangerous cloud to-ground lightning. Rainfall will be generally light across the area on Friday, with most areas expected to receive 0.10 inch or less. However, with any thunderstorms there could be isolated amounts of 0.25 to as much as 0.50 inch. Snow levels should be as low as 5500 ft Friday morning with perhaps an isolated inch or two falling, otherwise there should be little if any snowfall.

Lingering showers are possible into Saturday otherwise dry for the weekend.  Temperatures for our Friday through Sunday will be below average with highs in the low to upper 60s.  Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies over the weekend.

Another weather system will bring a chance of showers to the area Monday, then dry and warmer through the end of the week

For Tuesday thru Thursday, dry and increasingly warm weather is expected as upper level ridging gradually builds into southern California.
