Sunday evening forecast Dec 22nd

Our latest Pacific storm has definitely delivered with widespread rain and wind. Some areas, mostly south of Pt. Conception, have picked up really impressive rain totals. Minor flooding has occurred on some roadways and a Flood Advisory is in effect for Santa Barbara & Ventura Counties. The rain is now showing signs of letting up and the alerts should drop off by mid evening. Snow is falling above about 6000-feet and A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through Monday for Ventura County.
A very impressive combination of ample southerly moisture is combining with strong low pressure to deliver this very wet storm on the first day of Winter. Much of the focus has been for Southern California with a good southerly wind, but all of received rain and more is expected as we head in to Monday. Look for showers, cool temps and breezy southerly winds. Again, the focus of this system has been mostly for our southern areas, so the best chances for showers will be in Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties.
Looking ahead, we should see a little break on Tuesday with just scattered chances for light rain. Temperatures will remain cool with highs below normal for this time of year. The next storm lines up on Wednesday with showers expected in our northern areas by late morning or early afternoon and then spreading south toward the evening. The second system could easily add upward of 1 -2 ' of additional rain for our southern areas with maybe up to an inch for areas in the north. Snow levels will also drop to near 4500-feet! This could impact travel over the Grapevine or I-5. We will need to monitor closely as that can lead to heavy traffic on our 101!  We should see good clearing by late Thursday and then remain dry as we head in to the last weekend of 2019!
