Evening weather forecast for Dec 21st

Clouds are starting to thicken up across the region as we get ready for the arrival of at least two storm systems. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the much of the area in to Sunday. Winds from the south could exceed 40-mph, especially in the mountains and foothills. High Surf continues along the coast and a Winter Weather Advisory will also be in effect for Ventura County above 5000' starting on Sunday and lasting in to Monday.
A broad area of low pressure is taking aim at California and will slowly slide south toward Southern California on Sunday & Monday. Moisture will stream up from the southwest and help to feed in to low pressure. This means showers and even moderate rain is likely on Sunday and in to Monday, especially south of Point Conception. Rain rates should remain below or right at flood advisory thresholds, so as of right now, there are no watches or warnings. By late Monday, expect most areas to start to at least clear up a little, but scattered showers will continue. Tuesday looks mostly dry with just slight chances for showers. Temperatures will remain very cool and winds could be strong at times.
By Wednesday, we see the arrival of storm number two! Look for more rain and possibly lower snow levels as some cold air filters in. This could impact the I-5 near the Grapevine which would then impact own 101!  We will watch closely and update as needed if that occurs. Rain is expected to last through Thursday with clearing by Friday and more so by next Saturday!
