Tuesday evening forecast May 18

Gusty northerly winds will remain through Thursday, with the strongest conditions along southern Santa Barbara County. Some warming is expected on Wednesday, before temperatures cool down into the weekend. Due to an area of a low pressure, onshore flow will increase, with a stronger marine layer. As a result clouds will become stubborn leading to a chance of drizzle on Saturday.

Temperatures warmed on Tuesday as a weak ridge of high pressure will sweep across through Wednesday, prompting some warming and more sunshine. This will also weaken the marine layer, with minimal cloud cover and much faster clearing into Wednesday. Daytime highs along the Central Coast will be in the low to mid 60s, South Coast looking at the 70s to 80s.

A Wind Advisory is in effect across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Central Coast until Tuesday at 8 PM. Northwest winds will range 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. A High Wind Warning is in effect across southern Santa Barbara coastal and mountain areas. North winds expected to range 25-40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph. The strongest winds will likely reach between Gaviota and Refugio.

A low pressure system will sink down south from the Pacific Northwest by the end of the week and is expected to stay through the weekend. Temperatures will cool significantly especially across the interior valleys. The trough is expected to deepen on Saturday, allowing the marine layer to strengthen. If this happens it could bring a chance of drizzle to light showers.

A weak ridge will develop on Monday prompting warmer temperatures and faster clearing. But expected to be followed by another trough, with cooling once again.
