Thursday evening forecast May 6

Cooler temperatures into Friday, due to an area of low pressure along the west coast. This will bring moderate to strong onshore flow, with plenty of night to morning clouds and fog. The pattern will keep temperatures near average through the weekend. A warming trend returns next week as onshore flow weakens and a ridge of high pressure returns.

The marine layer will deepen overnight, bringing the potential for drizzle along the foothills by early Friday. With strong onshore flow the marine layer is likely to push further inland. This will greet the region with cloudy skies and slow clearing possible along the south coast. As winds pick up along the Central Coast this could actually result in better clearing. Temperatures near the Central Coast will warm in the low to mid 60s. Areas along the South Coast looking at the upper 60s to low 70s. While valleys will reach the upper 70s to low 80s.

West to northwest winds will return Friday, with gusts up to 30 mph. At this time no advisories have been issued. The marine layer will shrink into Saturday and Sunday with mostly sunny skies and breezy afternoon winds.

Overall looking at a quiet weather pattern persisting through the weekend. Mother's Day will be pleasant with minimal clouds and pleasant daytime highs. By Monday a ridge of high pressure will return along the west coast initiating another warming trend.
