Monday morning forecast August 17th

Hot temperatures and bright skies, will be on tap for the next several days. This will keep a Heat Advisory in effect for the Santa Ynez range, and an Excessive Heat Watch across the interior valleys and mountains through Thursday evening.

Due to an abnormally strong ridge of high pressure, conditions will remain above average along the coast and inland. In fact we can warm further on Monday and Tuesday, adding 2 to 6 degrees. The long duration heat wave will cause the potential for record breaking temperatures. Daytime highs along the coast will warm in the 70s to 80s, interior valleys looking at the upper 90s to 100s.

Along with warm temperatures, there is chance for some tropical moisture to prompt thunderstorms. This could cause elevated to critical fire weather derived from lightning and plume until Thursday.
