Friday evening forecast May 1st

Strong winds and above average temperatures greeted the month of May with plenty of sunshine. Daytime highs along the coasts and interior valleys warmed in the 70s to 80s allowing for a pleasant Friday. Overall a dry and gusty weather pattern will continue to dominate the majority of our regions. With a Wind Advisory in effect for southern Santa Barbara County coasts and mountains through Saturday morning.

Advisory level Sundowner winds will continue to impact the afternoon and evening hours with the strongest winds in the hills and canyons near the Santa Ynez range. Strong northern winds range 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. This will allow for mainly clear skies from the Central Coast through the South Coasts into next week.

Slightly cooler temperatures could be expected for the weekend, bringing some much needed relief for the interior valleys. Despite the cooling most areas will still remain around 5 degrees above average. With daytime highs along the coasts and valleys in the low to mid 70s and 80s.

The next heat wave will begin on Monday with a warming trend through the end of the week. As a ridge of high pressure builds record breaking high temperatures will be possible from Tuesday through Thursday. This could prompt a Heat Advisory as coasts and valleys are expected to warm 10 to 15 degrees above average.
