Tuesday evening forecast

Santa Barbara, Calif. - We're ending 2019 on a fairly tranquil note around the California Central Coast and South Coast, with sunshine, some high clouds and above-average temperatures. We can expect a mostly clear to partly cloudy sky tonight and seasonably cool temperatures ranging from the mid 30s in our inland valleys to the mid and upper 40s closer to the coasts.

The New Year 2020 will begin in a fairly quiet way for most of our area, but we'll still have gusty wind at times in Ventura County. A ridge of high pressure will bring a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky through Saturday with mild temperatures. A trough will pass overhead Sunday, bringing stronger wind. We'll have less wind and fewer clouds early next week.

Overnight lows will be seasonably chilly to cool for both valley and coastal locations. Valleys: 30s and lower 40s. Coasts: mainly 40s. Daytime highs will be at or slightly warmer than average for all areas, ranging from the upper 50s to the upper 60s from valleys to coasts. A High Surf Warning is in effect for the Central Coast Wednesday and Thursday.
