Why are you running for office?I am running for District 4 County Supervisor to tackle the critical issues that the incumbent has failed to properly address during her eight years in office.

Here's what I will do:

– Generate new sources of water to preserve our quality of life.
– Expand supportive housing, mental health services, and drug and alcohol treatment to keep homeless people safely off our streets.
– Help businesses and farms thrive so South County residents have good-paying jobs, and our economy remains strong.
– Make our streets safer by fully funding police budgets, adding a sheriff’s substation and increasing patrols.
– Improve our roads to reduce time spent in traffic.

I am running to make sure your government works for you. I respectfully ask for your vote.
What makes you qualified for the job?Jimmy Paulding knows every street, ballpark, and business in South County. He grew up in Arroyo Grande, and he loves it there.

With a Cal Poly degree in city and regional planning, Jimmy has worked to build roads, wastewater plants and criminal justice facilities. With a law degree from the Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law, Jimmy runs a small business that helps ambitious people start businesses, guides hard-working families on business succession strategy and prepares family estate plans.

"Mom was a teacher at Coastal Christian School and Dad was a police officer. They taught me right from wrong, faith in God, and the value of hard work and common sense. They taught me to listen to people whose opinions were different from mine. They inspired me to serve." —Jimmy Paulding

Those experiences, and his parents’ example, are why he wants to be our representative on the SLO County Board of Supervisors.

Jimmy has served on the Arroyo Grande City Council the past four years and has established a track record of finding creative solutions to difficult problems. He also serves on regional boards, including the Air Pollution Control District, the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments, and the Regional Transit Authority.

When it comes to South County issues, Jimmy has deep knowledge and lifelong experience.

"I’ve learned how to create cost-effective solutions that improve people’s lives – and improving lives is what good government is all about." —Jimmy Paulding

We deserve a supervisor who will help families and businesses thrive, someone who is committed to preserving what we love about our community.
What are your two main priorities if you win?Generating new sources of water to preserve our quality of life, and expanding supportive housing, mental health services, and drug and alcohol treatment to keep homeless people safely off our streets.
How will you collaborate with other governments? By working together – with trust, humility and goodwill – we can help each other tackle shared challenges across our region, and harness opportunities to preserve and enhance our collective quality of life. We need leadership grounded in a collaborative style and approach more than ever, especially in the District 4 County Supervisor role.
What are the next two issues that are most important to you?Helping businesses and farms thrive so South County residents have good-paying jobs, and our economy remains strong, and making our streets safer by fully funding police budgets, adding a sheriff’s substation and increasing patrols.
