As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to surge throughout the region, doctors at Marian Regional Medical Center want the to share how important it is to consider COVID-19 safety as you make plans to ring in 2021.

Doctors say their major concern is what surge may be coming.

The surge they're seeing right now is a result of  the Thanksgiving holiday.

But they have not yet seen the effects of what transmission may have happened during the Christmas holiday.

So they want to stress the importance to continue following health orders during the New Year's Day celebration.

"It's extremely important that you focus on your immediate family. Even if you feel like you've been in a safe bubble for the past several months, please take the extra time and precaution to limit your exposer to other individuals outside of your household," says Dr. Scott Robertson at Marian Regional Medical Center.

Doctors say the decisions we make today can affect what we will see over the next several weeks.
