Friday morning forecast August 14th

An Excessive Heat Warning is expected to remain in effect across the interior valleys and mountains until Monday evening. The advisory has extended to reach San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Central Coast until Friday evening.

As the ridge of high pressure continues to strengthen, conditions could be above average by nearly 15 degrees. Moderate instability could also bring the potential for afternoon and evening thunderstorms for mountain areas.

Daytime highs on Friday along the Central Coast will soar in the 90s to 100s. Highs along the South Coast will be in the 80s to 90s. While interior valleys will range between 100-110 degrees.

Hot temperatures, and the potential for strong draft winds could bring elevated fire concern through next week. Hot temperatures will remain but expect some relief on Saturday for the Central Coast. Further cooling on Sunday but again still staying very warm.
