Thursday evening forecast – May 7th

The peak heat brought very warm temperatures for the coasts and valleys on Thursday. Due to a hot air mass daytime highs warmed 15 to 20 degrees above average. A Heat Advisory will remain in effect for San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura County through Thursday at 9 PM.

As the ridge of high pressure weakens a slow cooling trend will begin on Friday and through early next week. This will bring some relief to coasts with some inland areas still looking at another warm day. Daytime highs on Friday will warm in the mid to upper 70s along the coasts with inland areas in the upper 80s to low 90s. An increase in cloud coverage and patchy fog will begin Friday night into Saturday.

Due to an area of low pressure moving in from the eastern Pacific, the marine layer will return daily for the Central and South Coast. Low coastal clouds will gradually clear on Saturday with more cloud cover remaining on Sunday, Mother's Day. An increase in cloud coverage will build Monday night into Tuesday with a slight chance of showers.
