Friday evening forecast April 24th
The first heat wave of the season dominated Southwestern, California with seasonably warm temperatures and damaging winds. Due to an unusually hot air mass across the region temperatures soared to the 80s and mid 90s. With several record breaking heat temperatures possible for Friday.
The peak heat will hold for one more day. With a Heat Advisory in effect for San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura County through Saturday at 6 PM. As offshore gradients weaken the winds will be lighter and this will allow for several degrees of cooling. This will bring little to no relief with most areas remaining well above average into middle of next week.
Advisory level winds are not expected at this time. However with weak offshore gradients this could prompt gusty northerly winds. With strong sun-downer winds likely along Southern Santa Barbara County and the I-5 Corridor from Saturday through Monday.
High pressure will weaken on Sunday allowing for cooler temperatures and much needed relief. Due to the change in pattern some coastal fog and stratus will be possible. Clear conditions will prevail with plenty of sunshine across the region. Daytime highs along the coasts and valleys will warm in the upper 70s to mid 80s. This trend will last through Monday.
The ridge of high pressure will strengthen again on Tuesday making it the warmest day next week. Many coasts and valleys will warm in the 80s to low 90s possible. A cooling trend will begin on Wednesday bringing an increase in high level clouds. With coastal fog and stratus possible on Thursday and Friday.
