Santa Barbara loses 4-2 to Saugus in a first round CIF-SS Division 3 playoff game.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Dons missed some opportunities and it came back to haunt them as Santa Barbara lost to Saugus 4-2 in a CIF-SS Division 3 first round playoff game.

The Dons, who have made the playoffs in over 20 straight years, took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Jack Holland raced home on a safety squeeze by Sam Russell.

Santa Barbara had a great chance to add on runs in that fourth inning as they had runners on second and third with just one out but the next two batters struck out.

Saugus scored two runs in the top of the fifth on a groundout and a throwing error.

Vince Gamberdella knocked in a first inning run for the Dons on a sacrifice fly.

Santa Barbara ends the season with a 14-8 record.
