Rob Wigod talks football, Peabody Stadium and a special water polo title game

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Rob Wigod says that all options are on the table when it comes to the high school football season but the CIF-SS commissioner certainly wants a season whether it starts on time or not.

In an interview on zoom with KEYT, he said that he was not going to rush a decision and that he hopes to gather more information on June 9 when the 10 CIF commissioners from around the state next meet.

He was thrilled with the renovation of Peabody Stadium at Santa Barbara High School which is almost at the finish line after three missed football seasons.

Wigod has been in the CIF offices for 20 years and says a great memory for him came in 2018 when he attended the San Marcos-Dos Pueblos girls CIF D1 water polo championship.

The game was a thriller won by San Marcos but he was just as impressed with how the Santa Barbara community came together just six weeks after the tragic debris flow in the area.
